Top Tips for Autumn Skincare from Urban Spa, Bishop’s Stortford
We all know how the sudden change in weather at the beginning of autumn can really affect our skin. Just because its time to cover up and swap those shorts and vests for boots and jumpers, it doesn’t mean we can forget to protect our skin from the weather.
At Urban Spa Bishop’s Stortford, our team of highly trained beauty therapists are here to cater for all of your skin’s needs, as well as recommending the best products for your individual skin type. Here is all you need to know about taking care of your skin this autumn…
1. Find out what is right for your skin
During the colder months the humidity decreases and our use of central heating increases – both dry out skin – so stick with your usual cleansing methods but remember to always avoid harsh, cleansing products, which can dehydrate skin. If you are unsure about which products are best for your skin visit Urban Spa and speak with one of our expert therapists, they will identify your skin type so you can avoid using products that are too harsh for your skin.
2. Try a Micellar Cleanser
Use something gentle that doesn’t strip your skin of its natural moisture, for example a Micellar cleansing water. ESPA’s Micellar Cleanser is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid which hydrates and Witch Hazel that gently tones, while Rose Water soothes for refreshed, replenished and beautifully balanced skin.
3. You still need an SPF
Remember, you still need to protect your skin from the sun all year round so find a good day moisturising cream that has a minimum SPF15 and a good UVA protection. Use this as a base daily before applying your makeup and then reapply during the day if out and about for lengths of time. We recommend Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer, not only is it SPF 30 it also contains velvety silicones to create an instantly smooth surface, pearl powder and natural earth minerals which provide a neutral tint to help balance tone and enhance luminosity.
4. Use rich creams at night
Before bed, gently cleanse your skin without stripping it and drying it out further with harsh chemicals and then apply a rich night moisturising repair cream. Look for creams full of antioxidants, as night time is the best time to repair the skin. We recommend Renight Vitamin Cream by Comfort Zone as it is a soft rich night cream with antioxidant and protective actions that are excellent for dehydrated and depleted skins.
5. Add oil for an extra boost
As skin can become a little dryer as the temperature cools, and central heating is turned on, after cleansing at night try adding a few drops of a rich nourishing oil to your night cream for an extra boost. Try Dermalogica’s Phyto Replenish Oil it is a feather-light treatment oil that rapidly absorbs into the skin to reinforce the skin’s protective barrier.
